Project

Dreamforce, the world’s largest technology conference, was fast approaching. The Salesforce Foundation needed several collateral materials for the event. It was my job to design and produce these.

the challenge

The Salesforce Foundation was a nonprofit, independent of the larger company. The company had a large design department, but the Foundation only had me for their design needs.

I was responsible for designing and building the website. I also had to design and produce several key elements in the event space.

A tremendous amount of planning and energy goes into pulling off Dreamforce. The Foundation's presence at the event had to be a success. I spent a lot of long days keeping up with the fast-pace demands required to make that happen.

Event Page Design and front-end build

I referenced Salesforce.com for the art direction as much as possible. But the Salesforce Foundation used a clunky website platform. This was a challenge.

I used photography, typography and color to align our event page with the company website. I even cobbled together some Javascript to animate the navigation.

Meter Board Design and video editing

The Foundation Zone had an area dedicated to attendee video interviews. The name of this project was Share Your Story. We interviewed representatives from nonprofits and higher-ed institutions. We wanted to know how Salesforce was helping them meet their organization's mission.

I had to edit the recordings down to around one minute. I also added intro and outro music, and I watermarked them. Afterwards, I posted the finished videos to YouTube.

We shared these videos across our social media channels. They  were a key part of our social media campaign. Below are three examples. I also designed the Share Your Story meter board.

Solution Station UI Design

Nonprofits and higher education institutes face unique challenges. Solution stations were setup at the event with resources specific to these challenges.

I designed a clean and easily navigable interface and built it with HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Event App Cover Tile

Dreamforce provided an event app attendees could download for free. The Salesforce Foundation had a dedicated section within the app. I designed the cover page the user saw after clicking on the Foundation’s tile.
